Leaders across the country have been calling on IEBC chairman Wafula Chebukati to resign days after three of his colleagues threw the towel.
The latest being National Assembly Majority leader Aden Duale who has accused Chebukati of not only failing to unite his own commissioners but also working in a seamless way with the secretariat.
Duale has pushed the IEBC chairman to the wall, he said the parliament will in the next few weeks come up with a legal frame work in IEBC.
Apart from Duale, Agriculture CS Mwangi Kiunjuri, Lakipia West MP Patrick Mariro, Machakos Town MP Victor Munyaka, among other several leaders have called for Chebukati's resignation.
Despite the leaders' outcry, the electoral body's chairman will be the last person to leave that office.
I know many are of different opinion on this but Chebukati is going nowhere.
Here is why:
The IEBC chair in the first place has announced that he will not resign and he is ready to continue working as the IEBC chairman.
Secondly, political bigwigs in the country have never announced their stand on the removal of Chebukati and the remaining commissioners.
If the commissioners get support of President Uhuru Kenyatta, NASA leader Raila Odinga which according to their current working relations are expected to back the commissioners, then Duale and his team will have no option than just supporting the remaining commissioners like they have been doing. Obeying the boss.
