IEBC on Friday evening postponed elections in four Counties in Nyanza for the second time.
After failing to hold the elections on Thursday due to anti-IEBC riots, the poll body had postponed the elections until Saturday, October 28.
However, the process has been halted until further notice pending reinstatement of normalcy in the region.
Out of the 40,883 polling stations in the country, 3,635 failed to vote in the elections that were boycotted by NASA few days before the polls.
IEBC chairperson Wafula Chebukati said it was impossible for their staff to operate in the polling stations which elections were not held.
He further added that poll officials have undergone a lot of trauma.
“Yesterday, some of our staff were hijacked, tortured, their homes were broken into and looted,” said Chebukati.
He added that others were violently barred from reporting to their polling stations.
Mr. Chebukati said the commission is still weighing on what to do if at all it will be impossible to hold elections in the said area.
