President Uhuru Kenyatta has lauded the Supreme Court on how it adjudicated the two presidential petitions challenging his victory.
Speaking on Tuesday when he took oath of office for his second term, the Head of State noted that the ruling on both petitions characterized the independence of the Judiciary.
"Our Judiciary particularly the Supreme Court adjudicated our electoral petitions with independence," he said.
The Supreme Court anulled Uhuru's re-election victory of the August 8 general elections following a petition filed by the Opposition coalition NASA challenging the polls.
At the time, the apex court ordered electoral agency IEBC to conduct fresh elections, which were boycotted by the Opposition.
The court, however, upheld Uhuru's victory last week Monday, declaring that he was validly reelected during the October 26 presidential repeat polls.
