With IEBC chairman Wafula Chebukati staging efforts to 'clean' the commission after allegations of rigging in the last election, it has emerged that his CEO Ezra Chiloba has been fighting his wrath to resign.

Chiloba and other commissioners said to be on the wrong side of Chebukati have responded to a memo the chairman wrote them to resign, highlighting reasons why they will not step aside.

They said that Chebukati's decision was arrived at after acting on information that had not been brought to the commission.

"A quick perusal of the memo shows that the allegations are based on some report or information that has not been brought to the attention of the commission," said a statement.

They accused Chebukati of taking issues out of context and added that the issues he is using are not factual.

"Most of the issues are not factual and could easily mislead if taken out of context. The Secretariat is reviewing the issues and will prepare appropriate responses to be presented to the Commission Plenary," the statement added.
