Coast-based human rights groups has petitioned a parliamentary committee over corruption in parastatals.
Led by Haki Africa Executive Director Hussein Khalid, the groups delivered the petition to the National Assembly Public Investments Committee (PIC) chairman Mvita MP Abdulswamad Shariff Nassir.
Khalid said cases of corruption in government institutions were worrying that there is need to bring culprits to book.
Addressing the press, Nassir acknowledged receiving the petition on Sunday, saying: "We have since started this national duty as PIC and we are doing everything in our powers to ensure accountability on every tax payers penny."
The ODM lawmaker warned that time was now to act against the misuse of public resources.
