According to sources close to the coalition, it is a matter of time before Ngilu joins the Raila led coalition.

Sources say that a series of meetings to woe Ngilu to Cord have taken place in the recent past.

According to Peter Ngure, a Kiambu based analyst, Cord is keen to woe Ngilu to its side as the 2017 election approaches.

The analyst says that it will be a plus for Cord if Ngilu joins the coalition.

The analyst notes that Cord will not be assured of Kamba’s full votes if Ngilu works on her own or opts to join President Uhuru Kenyatta’s Jubilee Party.

“For Cord to be sure of full Kamba votes they must woe Ngilu to their side,” he said.

Mr Ngure further notes that having Ngilu on their side, Cord will be guaranteed women votes in the forthcoming 2017 elections.

“Ngilu has a huge support base for women not only in Ukambani but also across the country and that is key among the reasons why Cord is after her,” he added.

The analyst also noted that Raila is keen to have Ngilu just in case he parts way with Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka.

The analyst notes that if Kalonzo parts way with Raila, the ODM leader might suffer a set -back since he will not be guaranteed of any Kamba votes in 2017 hence the coalition push to have Ngilu join the coalition.

Cord principals have on several occasions appealed to the former Lands CS to join them in the opposition.

Kalonzo  who is the Wiper party leader has been quoted saying that Cord has approached Ngilu in its efforts to form a ‘super’ alliance that will unseat Uhuru from power come next year.

On Friday last week during the burial of former Kathiani MP Wavinya Ndeti’s husband in Machakos, Ngilu hinted that she might work with the opposition.

Ngilu who attend the burial that was also attended by the Cord co-principals said that she is working on political strategies that will change the lives of Kamba people and more so Kitui residents.

Ngilu who was suspended from government last year over graft allegations has declared interest to unseat Kitui Governor Julius Malombe in the forthcoming 2017 general elections.
