The announcement by a section of  Cord coalition on Tuesday that they will be seeking to register Cord as a political party was a matter of when and not if.

With the seemingly formidable Jubilee Party, the crumbling Cord could not just sit and wait to be disgraced by Jubilee in 2017. Even a dying horse throws its last kicks.

The coalition only fell short of dissolving its affiliate political parties and forming a similar outfit as that of Jubilee. But they had to do things a bit differently lest they are accused of copy-pasting Jubilee's ideas.

It can be remembered well that Cord was very dismissive when news of Jubilee Coalition amalgamating into a single political party first hit the headlines. They accused UhuRuto of taking Kenya to pre-1992 single party era when KANU was the 'chama cha baba na mama' (political party for all).

However, a few days later after the colourful Jubilee Party launch on September 10, the fragmented Cord seems to have read the cue from Jubilee and embraced President Uhuru Kenyatta's advice to organise themselves 'wapatane kwa uwanja'.

For the past few months Cord has been caught off-guard by Jubilee. From the Jubilee Party merger and launch to naming their presidential candidate, Cord is second to Jubilee. Perhaps it is the case of having far too many cooks who are likely to spoil the broth.

Every cook in the name of Raila, Kalonzo and Wetangula has individual ingredients and method of preparing the broth.

Raila, Kalonzo, Wetangula supremacy battle experts argue may cost Cord another presidential victory in 2017 and beyond 2022.

Whether this is true, only time can tell. For now Jubilee's meat conversation seem to hold.
