According to a source at City Hall, Uhuru Park has already been booked for three days, one of which is the same day that Cord is to hold its rally.

Uhuru Park has already been booked by a popular city evangelist who already has a payment receipt from City Hall to use the venue on 1st June. According to news update by Tuko that bears a copy of the payment receipt by Lucy Wa Ngunjiri, the evangelist paid Sh150,000 to have the grounds for four consecutive days commencing May 31 to June 3. There have also been several posters circulating in Nairobi concerning the rally that is to be graced by Rose Muhando among other celebrated gospel artists.

If the opposition still holds to having parallel Madaraka celebrations, then it has to seek an alternative venue for the same. Cord had earlier this week indicated that it will convene its concurrent rally to coincide with the national celebrations to be marked in Nakuru.

Norman Magaya from the Cord secretariat had also hinted that it had written to Nairobi police boss Japheth Koome concerning the venue, and requested for security to be beefed up during the event.
