According to the Daily Nation, the Council of Governors Chair maintained that the government's offer of a 40 per cent increment to the doctors was fair deal compared to what other doctors earn in other nations.

“Our striking doctors need to consider the package the government is offering them. Our neighbouring countries pay much less than the salaries our medics are currently receiving,” Munya said on Thursday.

Munya also hinted at a possibility by the governors to replace the medics if they continue with their industrial action.

“We cannot sit and watch the people who elected us suffer while we can replace striking doctors. They must report to their work stations, failure to which the affected counties will lay them off,” he said.
