A middle aged man accused of conning and extorting money from Members of Parliament (MPs) has been detained in police cells for four more days.
On Tuesday, Milimani Resident Magistrate Christine Njagi, detained, Benson Masubo alias Chacha for four days to allow for conclusion of police investigations into the conning and extortion allegations.
The court also ordered for the suspect to undergo mental assessment at Mathari hospital.
The suspect is accused of using personal details of Murang’a Women Representative Sabina Chege to register a Safaricom Mobile Line that he allegedly used to extort money from MPs.
Chacha was has been on the run was arrested on Friday last week in Tanzania.
According to media reports, the suspect has allegedly confessed to have slept with 13 female MPs.
Last week, a Safaricom agent who registered the line the suspect has been using to extort money was arraigned in court.
Catherine Nyaboke denied conspiracy to defraud charges and was released on Sh200, 000 bond and alternative of Sh100, 000 cash bail.
