Dagoretti South MP Dennis Waweru has defended his move to drop the Nairobi gubernatorial bid.
Speaking on Sunday, the legislator observed that he had opted out of the race for the benefit of Jubilee Party.
He indicated that Jubilee Party was headed for a heavy defeat should he have stayed in the race, adding that he had to make a sacrifice.
“In this life, sacrifices have to be made. And you run to win. You never run to lose. As is now, I saw Jubilee was headed to defeat. So I took a step back and now I want to bring these people together,” he noted.
Waweru is set to seek re-election as member of parliament on a Jubilee Party ticket.
He was part of the #TeamNairobi that included Nairobi Senator Mike Sonko, Nominated MP Johnson Sakaja and former Starehe MP Bishop Margaret Wanjiru.
He is the second member of the faction to drop his bid following Sakaja's announcement that he would be vying for the Senatorial seat instead.
