Judge Joseph Onguto, a high court judge, was pronounced dead upon arrival at a Nairobi hospital.
The judge was taken to hospital on Thursday evening after he collapsed at Parklands Sports Club.
His demise comes a day after the judge presided over an election petition in which he upheld the election of Embakasi Central MP Mwangi Benjamin Gathiru.
His death was confirmed by the Kenya Magistrates and Judges Association(KMJA) boss Derrick Kuto.Kuto confirmed that Justice Onguto collapsed on Thursday evening at Parklands Sports Club and was confirmed dead upon arrival at a Nairobi hospital.
According to reports, judge Joseph Onguto attended to his duties at the high court as usual.The judge was in court in which he presided over a petition case on the election of Embakasi Central pitting Hezron Omondi and Mwangi Benjamin Gathiru.
In this petition, the slain judge upheld the election of Mwangi pointing.In his ruling of the case before him, judge Joseph Onguto pointed out that Hezron Omondi, the petitioner, had failed to prove claims of irregularities, illegalities, and forgery among others.
The body was taken to the morgue as it awaits postmortem.
