Since ascending to the position of the second most powerful man in the country Deputy President William Ruto has been viewed as an enemy by politicians from both Jubilee Party and the opposition.
However, the man from Sugoi, popularly calling himself hustler, owing to his humble begininngs as poultry farmer, has strongly overcome the pressure and bickering from both sides of the divide.
Ruto has been attacked by politicians from his perceived Rift Valley stronghold in the fashion of Bomet governor Isaac Ruto and KANU party leader Gideon Moi who have severally dismissed him despite him being one of their own.
As if pressure from home is not enough the hustler also has not been having it easy in Jubilee party an outfit he sacrificed so much for and even folded up his URP party to unify the outfit.
In 2016, Kiambu governor William Kabogo and nominated Senator Paul Njoroge dismissed DP Ruto chances of ascending to power, despite his spirited efforts to ensure Jubilee remains united.
"Even if we promised someone a seat, we will have to sit down and talk. We will not just giveaway the seat like that. If you think because we agreed it will go like that, we have the votes and therefore have to be respected,” said Kabogo.
Let me not narrate the countless attacks that DP Ruto has had to challenge from the opposition politicians, yet he remains significant in Kenyan politics.
According to political pundit Barrack Muluka there is a big reason why DP Ruto is indeed a man under siege.
"I think one of the biggest reasons why Ruto is a man under siege is the 2022 succession politics, because after August 8, polls Raila and Uhuru will be out of the picture making Ruto the politician to face for the top office in 2022," said Muluka during an interview with Citizen Radio.
Other analyst stated that DP Ruto is under attack because he is now a matured politicians making him a threat to his peers.
