Deputy President William Ruto has been under siege in his recent rallies, after angry crowds heckled him and prevented him from speaking, two times this week.
The second incident, which happened in Trans Nzoia, comes hot on the heels of another one where angry youth in Bungoma chanted opposition songs when the DP tried to address them.
A chopper carrying Ruto had to re-route and land at Kitale Members Club instead of Masaba Primary School, as it had been planned, after ODM supporters barricaded the road leading to the school.
The DP, however, braved the hostility and addressed the crowd.
He condemned Kiminini MP Chris Wamalwa, for alleging that the area was an opposition stronghold and therefore Jubilee had no business being there.
“What do you mean that Jubilee has no room here? That is your personal statement and does not represent the feeling of the locals,” Ruto said.
Ruto, who is considered as one of the most strategic politicians in the country, could be forced to change tact when touring opposition zones, least the hostile receptions taint the perception of his support and influence.
The DP is on a voter mobilisation tour.
