Deputy President William Samoei Ruto is the real man to watch come 2022.
He has exemplary leadership qualities, for instance, he is charismatic in a way he can sway one to his side easily. This can be seen practically when he decided to merge his party by then the United Republican Party (URP) and supported President Uhuru Mwigai Kenyatta in the 2013 general elections and a good number of Kalenjins followed him to the winning team.
In 2014, when the President went to his hearings in the Hague, he temporarily assumed the office of the president from 5th to 8th October and managed to govern the country peacefully.
As the secretary of the then ruling party KANU, he performed his duties successfully.
The DP has been a Member of Parliament of Eldoret North Constituency since 1997 up to 2013 after defeating Reuben Chesire when he decided to go higher and expand his political ambitions by supporting Kenyatta as the president and him becoming the first running mate under the new constitution that was promulgated August 2010.
If he did not perform his duties well as the MP, I am sure the residents of Eldoret North could not cote him for such a longer time.
He has served as Cabinet Secretary for Home Affairs in 2002 under retired President Mwai Kibaki. The DP has also been a Cabinet Secretary for Agriculture since 2008-2010.
He also served as the chair for the parliamentary select committee on constitutional reform in the 9th parliament.
Having seen briefly how the DP has served and ruled, he stands a chance to win in the next general elections.
