Garissa Township MP Aden Duale now wants female MPs banned from wearing trousers, revealing dresses and tight pants while in Parliament chambers.Duale argues that some female MPs are disrespecting the decorum of the ‘House’ by wearing inappropriately.The leader of Majority in the National Assembly states that inappropriate dressing by some female MPs during parliamentary sessions does not auger well with the business of the ‘House’“Mr Speaker, in the chamber, there is a semi-order on decorum, there are some women members of Parliament whose dressing is not in line with the required decorum,” he said as quoted by tuko.co.ke on Thursday.Duale said that the decorum and respect of the ‘House’ need to be protected.Several male legislators cheered as Duale made the statement in Parliament on Thursday.The issue of female MPs and politicians dressing is not new in the corridors of parliament.A month ago, Nyeri County Assembly kicked out a female MCA (Beth Nyawira) for allegedly dressing inappropriately to the Assembly chambers.The MCA was kicked out for wearing a 'see me through' tight mini dress that had allegedly exposed too much of her cleavage.The MCA, however, defended her dressing, stating that she chose it because the weather was too hot.Duale’s statement is likely to elicit sharp reactions from women legislators and politicians.
