According to the group members from Murang'a, the are afraid that the government might use their fingerprints to investigate their past crimes.

The members are afraid that the government might open prosecution.

This has forced security officials to sensitize the ex-members to register.

"If you are here and you know you were once arrested in connection to the [Mungiki] sect, kindly go register as a voter because nobody will follow your fingerprints from IEBC," said George Kimani, the Murang'a media chair.

The voter registration exercise is expected to run until the 14th.
