Uasin Gishu Governor Jackson Mandago on Saturday joined the First Lady Margaret Kenyatta in celebrating SOS international founder's day at SOS children's home in Eldoret during which a maternity wing was also commissioned.
The first lady speaking during the event called for intensify support for SOS Children's villages in the country saying they play a critical role in caring for needy children.
The first lady who is the patron of the SOS Children's Village in Kenya applauded the organization for ensuring children who have lost or are at risk of losing parental care always have a place to call home.
"As a patron, I encourage more partnerships, well-wishers and friends to join in and support the great work we see here today," she said.
On his part, Governor Mandago assured the first lady of his administrations' unwavering support in all the programs she initiated.
"We are going to support the program. We assure you of our support and in the future we will be part of the program. We will partner together and support the universal health care," he said.
Mandago further noted that the maternity section will not only support the SOS community but it will also benefit the neighbouring population at large.
