According to the Star, Edward Onyancha and seven others have moved to court seekingthe decision reversed saying it was unconstitutional.

The group, in an application filed as urgent at the High Court on Thursday, accused partychairman Albert Nyaundi of submitting minutes during the Jubilee parties’ merger in Nairobi's Kasarani stadium in 2016, a decision Onyancha says was not agreed upon by members.

During the event, Nyaundi had said the move to dissolve Ford-P was a collective decision which had the full backing of the party and community leaders across the divide “... and it will cement unity among our people."

But his remarks have been dismissed by Onyancha who says the deregistration of Ford People flouted the Political Parties Act.

“The signatories to the alleged merger agreement for Ford People to merge with JP lacks any tinge of ostensible authority donated by Ford People under the corporate seal,” reads an affidavit sworn by Onyancha.

The party's officials still have the certificate of registration, and the alleged resolution to merge with Jubilee infringes on their rights and offends the Political Parties Act and the Constitution, Onyancha added.

The group now wants the Registrar of Political Parties compelled to restore and rectify the party’s membership list.

They also want Nyaundi, Francis Njoroge, Fredrick Nyaga, Mary Michieka and other former leaders barred from holding themselves as officials.
