Former Kilifi North MP Gideon Mung'aro has hailed Malindi Township MP Aisha Jumwa's move to endorse Deputy President (DP) William Ruto's 2022 presidential bid.
Mung'aro argues that Jumwa's Sunday endorsement is a clear indication that Raila Odinga will support Ruto in 2022.
Speaking to journalists in Malindi Town on Monday, Munga'ro asked the former Prime Minister to publicly endorse Ruto.
The former Kilifi North MP, who was recently appointed as Lands Cabinet Administrative Secretary (CAS) said that Raila has a debt to pay to William Ruto.
He said that DP Ruto remains the best suited candidate to succeed Uhuru in 2022.
"We are happy that our colleagues in opposition are seeing the leadership qualities in DP Ruto and we are happy that they are endorsing him for the top seat in 2022," he said as quoted by a local daily.
Mung'aro said that time has come for Kenyans to unite and support leaders who will bring change.
The former MP who unsuccessfully contested for the Kilifi governor seat in last year's polls, asked Coast leaders to unite and support Jubilee government.
He said that Coast region stands to gain in Jubilee government development agenda.
On Sunday, Jumwa alongside other opposition MPs said that DP Ruto remains suitable candidate to succeed Uhuru.
"We cannot stop an idea whose time has come and DP Ruto is the person to succeed Uhuru Kenyatta in 2022," she said on Sunday in Voi where DP Ruto inspected development projects.
Jumwa's move to openly endorse DP Ruto has send shock among ODM supportsers with claims that her statement could hamper Raila's bid should he contest in 2022.
Jumwa's endorsement of DP Ruto comes days after president Uhuru Kenyatta met with former Prime Minister Raila Odinga and agreed to work together for national unity and reconciliation.
