Kilifi County governor aspirant on a Kadu Asili ticket Kazungu Kambi has vowed to move to court seeking an order for a recount of the votes cast in Tuesday’s polls.

Kazungu made the remarks Wednesday evening shortly after the county Returning Officer Nelly Ilongo announced the indefinite suspension of the vote tallying exercise.Moments before Ilongo’s announcement, Jubilee, Kadu Asili and Wiper candidates had stormed the tallying centre demanding that she stops the process, claiming the ODM had rigged the election in Kaloleni."Please announce to the media that you have suspended this exercise because it is a shame,” said Kilifi South MP Mustapha Idd as quoted by the Nation."Yes, I have suspended it,” replied Ilongo.Jubilee governor aspirant Gideon Mung’aro said the move will ensure justice prevails. He accused Governor Amason Kingi of trying to rig the polls."The governor wanted to steal this election but thank God we have discovered his motives. The suspension will open a chance for proper investigations on the involvement of ODM in election malpractice in this county,” added Mung’aro. After the RO's announcement, the politicians began chanting anti-Kingi slogans as they made their way out of the hall.Ilongo was immediately surrounded by heavy security, as all political party agents were ordered to leave the premises until further notice. There was also confusion as police officers who were providing security at the tallying centre also left. Instead, a contingent of General Service Unit and anti-riot police officers took charge of the entrance."I now order everybody to leave this place with immediate effect,” said a senior police officer at the main entrance. However, the media was spared but ordered to strictly remain inside the tallying centre.
