Former Balambala MP Abdikadir Aden has termed the resignation of three IEBC commissioners as suspicious.
The former ODM lawmaker says that the manner in which IEBC Vice chair Consolata Nkatha Maina, Commissioner Paul Kurgat and Margaret Mwachanya left office raises eyebrows.
Aden now wants thorough investigations against the three commissioners to be conducted.
He said that there could be serious issues that forced the three commissioners to tender in their resignations.
“The resignation of Nkatha, Kurgat, and Mwachanya should not be taken lightly because issues that have been surrounding the commission are weighty and needs a probe,” he told journalists in Garissa Town on Wednesday.
The former MP at the same time hit out at IEBC chairman Wafula Chebukati.
He accused Chebukati of failing to address key issues at the electoral commission. On Monday, three commissioners resigned citing lack of leadership by Chebukati.
The tree commissioner’s resignation comes months after Roslyn Akombe’s resignation.
Akombe resigned in October last year’s days to last year's October 26 repeat presidential election.
She claimed that IEBC was not independent to conduct the repeat polls.
The Monday resignation of the three commissioners is now piling pressure on Chebukati to also quit.
