With the advent of devolution, the Kenyan citizenry envisioned a bright future while expressing optimism that the county government would be an invaluable alternative to the shortcomings of the centralized national government.
Barely four years, the electorate is now cursing this thing called devolution, with a section calling for the scrapping of some ghost positions as that of Women rep.
County assemblies have also had a share of public criticism, and Garissa are such lot that need to be voted out as a whole.
It is no secret that the county has been making headlines for the most unfortunate scenes; either graft or incompetence.
It should be remembered that the county assembly featured among the few errant counties that failed to pass its 2016/2017 budgetary allocations on time, thus paralyzing service delivery to the deserving electorate.
It was not until late October that the MCAs felt the pinch and the need to pass the budget after becoming broke that they unanimously passed it.
This week again, the county assembly made to the news headlines for reportedly overspending on allowances. Auditor General listed the county assembly among the list of defiant county legislators who rubbished the provisions of the Salaries and Remuneration Commission (SRC) and allocated themselves a lion's share in sitting allowances.
It is with this that the electorate should exercise their might by voting out all the serving MCAs to give other freshmen a chance to serve them. Who knows, them might be better performers.
