The Council of Legal Education (CLE) has defended its decision to give special treatment to Attorney General Githu Muigai’s daughter Wambui G. Muigai during the bar exam.
Wambui alongside Kimuyu Charles Musili were provided with special rooms during the exams that ended on Friday.
Hundreds of students from Kenya School of Law protested the decision to allow the two to sit their exams alone while the rest of the students were lumped together in a hall.
John Otuke, a student, said such special treatment would grant them undue advantage over the rest of the students.
The exam which is conducted annually in November and December were held at the Kenya School of Law (CUEA) exam center.
But CLE chief executive officer Prof Kalundu Bitonye defended the decision saying the two requested separate rooms.
"This was not only for their convenience but also to avert disruption during examinations," he said.
In a paid-up advertisement in a local daily, Bitonye said the CLE put up strict measures to ensure the integrity of the exam.
"The council would like to assure the public, stakeholders, and candidates that it upholds the law in the conduct of bar examinations," he added.
