Gor Mahia played out to a barren draw with USM Alger in their CAF Confederations tie on Wednesday night, in a match that the home team controlled from start to finish.

The draw will be a welcome relief to the North African side, who were lucky to collect the point.

Gor played like they have been playing in the last matches, and just like last weekend when they drew with Hull City, the Kenyan champions could not break their opponents’ defence.

The match was played under heavy weather conditions, after the rains poured making the pitch soggy.

The North Africa opponents were then handed an advantage over Gor, after defender Joash Onyango was sent off for a second bookable offense to leave Gor with 10 men.

The draw means that record SportPesa Premier League (SPL) champions Gor bagged their second consecutive valuable point in as many outings.

They drew their first match of the group away to Rayon Sports of Rwanda, and are currently second on the group behind their match day opponents.

Yanga of Tanzania are at the bottom of the group with a single point, while Rayon are third, tied on two points with K’ogallo.
