Nyamira Governor John Nyagarama, who was lected Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), has remained a stranger in both local and national politics.
Even before his victory was upheld by High Court in February, Nyagarama rarely meddles in national politics, and instead, takes a low profile even on issues that matter.
Pundits argue that his moderate approach on issues, is informed by President Uhuru Kenyatta's charm offensive on opposition strongholds, which he reportedly sidelines in development.
For long periods, Nyagarama battled out claims that he is an ODM mole, adding that his competitors were reading from the wrong script on his style of politics.
But the truce between ODM leader Raila Odinga and President Uhuru Kenyatta, has since given his a lifeline, something that can be noted in his recent vibrancy on national interest matters.
On Friday, he pleaded with county leaders across the country, to replicate Uhuru-Raila famous handshake for the sake of development.
