John Obiero Nyagarama is one of the politicians with a very short political history in Kenya. He rose from 'nowhere' to become a county boss as witnessed from his life history.
Born in 1946 in a remote village called Nyakemincha, Nyagarama did not know that one day he will be leading his home county. He pursued his studies as anybody else does but with both hardwork and determination. No matter how hardworking you are, you cannot tell who you will be tomorrow, yet you have to set your personal goals and targets.
After finishing his primary studies, he continued with the secondary education. A clever mind never quits no matter what situation. For Nyagarama, he believed in only one common proverb or saying, 'Hardwork pays.'
He studied in both Kisii and Maseno schools for his secondary education. After graduating from the University of Nairobi with a degree in the bachelor of education, Nyagarama was set to face the outside world, a mix-up of ups and downs to make ends meet. Fortunately, a devoted graduate never fails to get a reward.
John Nyagarama found a number of opportunities to lead in the agricultural sector. He served as a Director for a number of companies including Nyansiongo Tea factory limited, Kenya Tea Packers Limited (KETEPA) as well as representing his county, Nyamira, in the Kenya Tea Development Agency (KTDA).
From there, he joined politics by directly competing in the Nyamira county gubernatorial post which he emerged out a winner in 2013. For the second term, Nyagarama also clinched victory from a near opponent, Walter Nyambati, using the same ticket as 2013 - ODM.
Thus, unlike other politicians in the same position countrywide, the Nyamira county boss has a short political history; hence a small experience in the political realm.
