Rutto, who expressed his intentions to work with opposition further says he will ensure Jubilee Party loses in South Rift.

The two leaders have been at loggerheads with Governor Rutto accusing DP of also meddling in Bomet politics.

"I am not fighting DP but only protecting my democratic right. You cannot expect us to follow you blindly when you shift to other parties," he said on Monday at Konoin in reference to folding up of URP.

He added: "Then you go ahead and start implanting political projects to frustrate my job. I have to stand firm and show you that you are a stranger to South Rift politics."

He will be running against Deputy Speaker Joyce Laboso who also faces a tough challenge from former Konoin MP Julius Kones.

The DP is under threat from KANU chairman Gideon Moi who has persistently attacked the DP on alleged 'dictatorship'.
