The Teacher Service Commission( TSC) has laid down new guidelines for whoever wishes to join the teaching fraternity in Kenya.
According to TSC CEO Mrs Nancy Macharia, college tutors without any training on subjects offered by a technical institution will not be hired by the TSC.
"Candidates whose training is in subjects that are not in the curriculum will not qualify," said Macharia.
Among the blacklisted graduates includes those who pursued journalism, theology, meteorology, horticulture, animal husbandry, farm machinery, forestry, natural resources, and fisheries among others.
The new guideline also stipulates that for one to teach in a vocational college he/she must have attained a minimum of a higher diploma. those who wish to teach in secondary schools, TSC says they must have attained a minimum of a C+ grade in KCSE in addition to a Bachelor's degree in education plus two teaching subjects.
