Kitui Governor Charity Ngilu has defended her decision to ditch Jubilee administration.

Ngilu abandoned CORD for JP ahead of 2013 elections, helping President Uhuru Kenyatta clinch power after former President Mwai Kibaki retired.

The county boss said she jumped ship believing the ruling party would transform the country.

"Jubilee then subscribed to my five issues of food and water, healthcare, education and youth development, women empowerment and wealth creation. I genuinely believed they could deliver. Things panned out differently and I have since moved on considerably," she said.

Ngilu accused the Jubilee top leadership of unfairly targeting her when she tried to bring reforms in the Lands docket where she was the Cabinet Secretary.

"The Lands Ministry is a tower of corruption. When you attack such a stronghold, resistance must come from many directions, including the top," she stated.

The NARC boss said despite being sacked on allegations of corruption and abuse of office, she is proud of her achievements in the ministry.

"Nevertheless, I introduced irreversible reforms including use of IT in the management of land matters and I look back with pride that I left a positive thumb-print," she added.

Ngilu made the remarks while responding to Sunday Nation readers in the interactive series, 'Ask your Question'.
