Former Machakos Senator Johnson Muthama has said that Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua is a non-performer.
Speaking during an interview with Viusasa, the Wiper politician said Mutua has proven beyond doubt that he lacks the qualities to transform the county.
Muthama said he spent his first term in office trying to bar the governor from destroying the county.
“He should ask Raila who has vied since 1997. He should first consult and ask what does it take. During my period as Senator I spent my entire tenure trying to stop Mutua from destroying Machakos,” Muthama said.
The former Senator further said he cannot support the Maendeleo Chap Chap's party leader due to his poor track record.
“I am personally a performer. How can I support a failure like Mutua? In fact, the sooner he leaves that position the better. I wish Mutua was not the Governor of Machakos, things would be different. I cannot support him," he said.
Muthama's remarks come few days after Mutua’s 2017 win was nullified by the Supreme Court.
The governor has since moved to the Supreme Court to defend his seat.
On her part, former Kathiani MP Wavinya Ndeti has insisted that she won the last general election.
Ndeti said she is ready to go back to the ballot.
