Kilifi Governor Amason Kingi has said he is best placed to lead the county until 2022. Kingi said development projects he has initiated since in 2013 are visible and thus deserves a second term.

“My government has put in place mechanisms to improve agricultural produce by providing proper training to our farmers as immediate measures to boost the yields in our County,” he said on Thursday when he campaigned at Sokoke Ward in Ganze Sub County.

“Agriculture is one of the prioritised agenda by my administration. Kilifi County has an agricultural area accounting to 65 per cent of fertile lands.”Through the provision of free fertilizer, planting seed and other farm implements, he said over 1,000 farmers had benefited in the county’s agricultural support programme.

“In the long term measures, my administration has successfully embarked on an ambitious irrigation project at Mangudho in Vitengeni location to ensure food security,” Kingi, a former cabinet minister said.

In the health sector, he said his government had improved health facilities through the construction of the Mrima wa Ndege maternity wing, refurbished the Vitengeni dispensary and equipped the Dida dispensary with sufficient drugs.

“We have also constructed the Uwanja wa Ndege and Bale dispensaries. All these measures are geared at bringing health services closer to people. It is important to note all these projects are being carried out by my administration in consultation with the Local residents.”Kingi, will on August 8 tussle it out with Kilifi North MP Gideon Mungaro (Jubilee Party).

He said his administration had also emphasised on improving fresh water connectivity where over 40,000 families are now enjoying clean water.

“A good example is the Matanomane-Kafuloni water pipeline project currently serving thousands of Kafu residents,” he said.
