Speaking to a local daily, Abdullahi said that a section of the MP wanted to use him to get richer through corrupt means.

This is after he differed with a number of MPs including Ibrahim Saney of Wajir North, Adan Keynan of Eldas  and Mohamed Elmi of Tarbaj who had supported him during his campaigns in the last general elections.

The governor argued that his strong stand to protect resources meant for the common mwananchi made him an enemy of the politicians. The three have been on the forefront in accusing the county boss of mismanaging resources since he took over power.

The governor has, however, maintained that he will not be cowed by the MPs to the extent that he sings to their tune.

“I refused to dance to their tune. They wanted me to be corrupt and be dishing out money whenever they tell me to do so. When I refused, they started calling me all manner of names, including arrogant and saying I was not consulting them,” Abdullahi said.

The county boss insisted that he is not ready to listen to leaders who want to satisfy their personal interest at the expense of the electorate. He further said that the residents of this region are wise and they cannot be hoodwinked to vote for corrupt leaders.
