Former IEBC commissioner Roselyn Akombe has defended her decision to resign out of the country, a move that has caught many by surprise.

Akombe, who was expected to oversee printing of presidential ballot papers at Dubai, decided to fly to US where she announced her resignation.

In an interview with KTN News, Akombe said her loufe was under threat from unknwon forces adding that she had no option other than to flee the country.

"I have received  death threats by unknown people for reasons I do not know. They want to kill me for no good reason.

"It was ideal to run away to make such important decision in my life. I have a career to protect and this is something I thought about," she said.

The outspoken commissioner further said she was advised to record statement with the police in her office to reduce tension in the country.

Moments after August 8th elections, Akombe was reportedly detained by the police at JKIA for unknown reasons before intervention from the US embassy.

Her brother is also said to have  run away from the country to US through Tanzania over alleged death threats.
