Uasin Gishu Jubilee party nominee for the Woman Representative seat Gladys Boss Shollei says she ventured into politics as she wanted to help change people's lives.

Speaking during a media breakfast in Eldoret town on Wednesday, the former Judiciary Registrar pledged to use her position to address many challenges the youth, women and people living with disabilities are faced on daily basis.

She said despite the perception that the Women Representative seat had no influence, she would seek to use it for the benefit of the common mwananchi.

"Originally a Woman Rep was meant to be a 'super MP' and I will work to change the perception as I believe this I can use this position to change people's libesi," noted Shollei.

"My dream is to make sure people in this county live a decent life. I want to help women be able to pay for their children's medical bills as well as fight alcoholism among our young generation among other challenges that people in different situations in life are facing," she added.

Shollei is considered favorite to clinch the seat in August polls who she is facing a stiff competition from Rael Jebichii Lelei who is vying on an independent ticket.

Other candidates eying the seat are Jeruto Kipkemboi Grace of Maendeleo Chap Chap, Kanu's Josephine Jeruto and Moira Chepkok of the Amani National Congress (ANC).
