Former minister Mutua Katuku of People’s Trust Party has said that he is the best replacement for Senator Johnson Muthama because he is more experienced than other candidates in the race.

The candidate said that his experience as Mwala MP and Water assistant minister during former President Mwai Kibaki makes him an ideal person to correct the mistakes Muthama during his reign if he is accorded the support he deserves ahead of the August general elections.

Speaking outside the IEBC offices after he was presented with his clearance certificate on Sunday, the lawmaker said that he will unite the county for the next five years as well as play his oversight role.

“I promise to bring harmony to this county. This has been lacking for the last four years,” he said, as quoted by Star.

The  vocal candidate added: “I will play my roles as a senator and ensure resources are well-spent.” The senatorial candidate also said that he will push for proper legislation at the county level.

“If elected, I will use that to champion proper legislation for the counties,” he said. Muthama opted not to contest for the seat after he fell out with Party leader Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka whom he accused of imposing leaders on the people of this part of the nation.
