Jubilee Party’s Lemi Muia has said that he wants to replace Machakos Governor Dr. Alfred Mutua because he wants to provide better leadership.
The aspirant, who was speaking during the Machakos Gubernatorial debate on Sunday, July 16, said that the incumbent has done his best but there is room for improvement.
He also argued that he does not agree with Mutua’s leadership style, adding that the county boss has been a hard liner when it comes to matters of leadership.
The aspirant promised to offer realistic approach towards leadership.
“I resigned from my position because I did not agree with the governor’s leadership style. Once elected as the next governor, I will localize ideas and provide more people-driven policies that will in turn ensure that projects rolled out [serve Ukambani people].
It’s not enough to have an idea from Dubai and not interpret it in a Kenyan context,” said Mr Lemi Muia, as quoted by CitizenTV.
On his part, Mutua said that he achieved a lot during his term in office. He said that he has initiated different projects in the region, adding that he will do better if given another term in office.
Former Kathiani MP Wavinya Ndeti and Machakos Deputy Governor Bernard Kiala did not attend the debate.
