Wafula Chebukati says he was within the confines of the law to demand specific answers from IEBC Chief Executive Officer Ezra Chiloba.
A secret memo from the IEBC chair to Chiloba caused tension within the commission with stakeholders questioning the authenticity of the content.
At Naivasha on Monday, Chebukati confirmed the memo but could not tell how the confidential statement leaked from his office.
“It is normal to carry an in-depth examination from such exercise. Even if the elections were not nullified, I would have still carried a postmortem for identification of our strengths and weaknesses,” he said.
Chebukati added:”I don’t know how it leaked but its normal from such organizations. However, he has responded to most of the questions and we are good to go.”
In the secret memo, Chibukati demanded to know a number of issues among them reasons behind the commission’s inability to transmit results from almost 600 polling centers.
Furthermore, Chebukati also demanded to know why the secretariat created a user name without his knowledge which carried thousands of illegal transactions during the elections.
