On Wednesday, four out of seven IEBC officials stormed out of a meeting to protest the new appointments made by Chairman Wafula Chebukati.
The officials had taken part in a day-long meeting to discuss the appointments of the new seven members who will conduct the presidential poll in October.
According to reports, Vice Chaiperson Consolata Nkatha, Prof. Abdi Guliye, Dr Paul Kurgat and Mr Boya Molu criticized Chebukati for not consulting with their prior to selecting a team.
“We were shocked because at no point did we discuss or agree too effect changes in our secretariat. We have asked for an urgent meeting to discuss this matter because the commission is run by the commissioners, not an individual,” one of the IEBC officials said.
According to the officials the IEBC Secretary and CEO, Ezra Chiloba, is the only official allowed to make such changes and that a portion of senior officials had been compromised by politicians.
