The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM)  governor further notes that he has not shelved his ambition for the top seat in 2022.

Speaking to journalists in Malindi Town on Saturday, Kingi said that he is the best-suited candidate to succeed president Uhuru Kenyatta in 2022.

He said that he has the political muscles to wrestle with others for the top seat.

"My journey for 2022 is on course and I am sure that Kenyans will elect me as their next president in 2022," he said.

The ODM governor said that the presidency is not a reserve for two communities as some leaders have made it to look like.

Kingi said that time has come fo Kenyans to stand against negative tribal politics and elect their leaders basing on their capability to deliver.

Kingi vowed to revolutionalize the country's development with emphasis on institutional reforms if elected president.

He also vowed to tackle corruption and tribalism which he said are major setbacks in the country's development agenda.

The ODM governor at the same time said that plans to have Coast region form it's own party ahead of 2022 are still alive.

He said that the regional party will help them bargain for 2022.

"The idea to establish our own regional party does not mean that we want or we are moving out of our mother party (ODM), the Kilifi governor said.

The governor has been under criticism with claims that he could be planning to bolt out of ODM.

The High court on Wednesday last week upheld his re-election as governor, saying that he was validly elected.

The High court dismissed a petition that had been filed by former Labour CS Kazungu Kambi on grounds that Kingi's re-election was marred with irregularities and illegalities.
