[Bomet Governor Isaac Ruto. He has decided to break ranks with the rulling coalition and join NASA ahead of the August polls]
Bomet governor Isaac Ruto has confirmed that he will be joining NASA, and is set to be received today, Tuesday by other NASA principals.
Speaking to NTV on Sunday, the vocal governor confirmed that he has officially broken ranks with Jubilee Party, which is predominant in the Rift Valley.
It is a tough call for Ruto, one of the rebel leaders in Valley, who has taken a different path from one that would be perceived by majority in the area.
He has time and again differed with DP William Ruto, and has never made it a secret as the two have time and again been involved in public spats.
“I am not going to team up with Raila, I am set to officially team up with the National Super Alliance,” said Ruto.
This for many may be a gamble for Ruto, in the predominantly Jubilee zone, even though it is not the first time he is taking a different political route.
In his first term as the chairman of the Council of Governors, Ruto disagreed completely with the government, accusing the Rift Valley leaders of sycophancy.
Nasa principals have approved the entry of Ruto, and will be received on Tuesday by the said leaders.
He joins the party on full coalition levels as other leaders, and will be accorded equal partners rights with NASA coalition leaders.
He will nominate two members to NASA team that is currently involved in choosing a flag bearer.
