Governor Nathif Jama is one of the few politicians in his county that should not be having any difficulty in campaigning for their re-election both in the nominations and the bigger August polling exercise.
Being an incumbent means that he has some big projects that have reached completion and a few others that are ongoing. With such ideas at hand, the witty electorate can judge and ascertain whether one deserves another term in office or not.
But for Jama, he is seemingly receiving criticisms fro competitors that has unfortunately spilled to the electorate.
One of the key projects that governor Jama should have prioritised in the first years of his first term is cleaning up the mess in Garissa Water and Sewerage Company (GAWASCO).
Since water is life, the governor should have ensured that each and every household in the county has access to clean water for domestic use. Incidentally, locals feel the governor did not achieve the expected as far as water connectivity is concerned.
Secondly, the mess in county administration and corruption cartels at his administration shall deal a blow to his reelection bid.
It is a fact that Jama has been in and out of the courts explaining cases of misappropriation of public resources. With this in mind, the incumbent should be having ready answers to explain to the electorate.
Furthermore, the answers he will issue in return shall be a make or break to his re-election bid. If he delivers satisfactorily to the electorate then he will count himself going for another term.
