Former Lugari MP Cyrus Jirongo has now asked the court to suspend a bankruptcy notice against him.
The former legislator made the prayers through his lawyer Kenneth Kiplagat.
According to media reports, Jirongo wants the court to lift the ruling so that he can be allowed to vie for the presidency during the forthcoming presidential repeat elections.
He unsuccessfully sought the top seat during the August general elections before the Supreme Court nullified President Uhuru Kenyatta's reelection victory in early September.
Under the Kenyan law, one cannot vie for the presidency or any other political seat if declared bankrupt by the court.
Jirongo was declared bankrupt by the High Court a week ago after it was established that he was unable to service his debts.
“The court hereby orders that Mr Jirongo, a businessman, be adjudged bankrupt,” read the court order.
There are a raft of other cases before different courts where the former KANU luminary has been sued for failing to pay up debts.
