Wiper Party Leader Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka has hinted at contesting for the nation’s stop seat in 2022. Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho and his Kilifi Counterpart Amason Kingi’s push for the secession of the Coast region is not good for Kalonzo’s presidential dream. The Coast region is an opposition stronghold. The former vice president is banking on the region to rise to the nation’s top position. The region has at least 1.7 million votes.
The Ukambani leader will be going to the ballot box with less votes compared to Deputy President William Ruto when that time comes. The National Super Alliance (NASA) presidential running mate will have an uphill task defeating the second in command if the leaders from this region manage to secede. The contest will be tougher for Ruto if President Uhuru Kenyatta’s endorsement is received positively by the Gema Community.
Kalonzo will have to go back the drawing board to see what he can do to rise to power. The Wiper leader has supported different leaders including Former Prime Minister Raila Amolo Odinga. His political stars, however seem to become dimmer over years.
