Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho on Tuesday settled on little known William Kingi as his deputy governor candidate.

Joho is expected to officially unveil Kingi tomorrow, Thursday.

The ODM deputy party leader’s communications manager, Richard Chacha, confirmed the appointment.

Joho’s running mate is the head of School of Business at the Technical University of Mombasa.

The governor was forced to pick a new running mate after Deputy Governor Hazel Katana defected to the Jubilee Party.

Katana accused Joho of frustrating her, saying she had experienced unimaginable tribulations under the governor and could no longer persevere.

Joho’s competitor, Senator Hassan Omar, picked Linda Shuma as his running mate.

Shuma is a businesswoman.
