Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho will oversee the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party nominations in Nairobi County on Sunday.

Joho is the party’s deputy party leader.

Sources close to Orange House say that Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero has his own list of preferred MCA aspirants and is plotting to influence the county’s elections board.

Kidero’s influence led to the defection of on MCA aspirant on Monday after leaning the city governor’s plans, as reported by The Star.

ODM’s National Elections Board (NEB) disbanded the Nairobi Elections Board and appointed Governor Joho to oversee the nomination exercise, to ensure its free and fair.

The party has struggled to ensure fair nominations, with results in counties such as Busia, Migori, Homa Bay and Kisumu counties being disputed by the aspirants.
