A section of leaders from Western Kenya have accused the Jubilee government over the death of Mumias Sugar Company manager for legal services Ronald Lubya.

On Saturday, Vihiga Senator George Khaniri alleged that President Uhuru Kenyatta-led administration was behind the killing of the Mumias Sugar official.

Speaking during the deceased’s funeral at Ivona Primary School in Chavakali, Vihiga County, Khaniri claimed that Jubilee wanted Sh10 million from the company to fund its campaigns in the region.

“Lubya was killed after he refused to allow illegal importation of sugar from South Sudan. Jubilee wanted to import the sugar and have it branded as Mumias sugar,” the Senator claimed.

Speaking at the same event, National Super Alliance co-principal Musalia Mudavadi called for speedy investigation, vowing that Lubya’s killers must be brought to book.

“We should go beyond the establishment of a parliamentary select committee. This matter should start with an inquest. This will give room for interrogation of board members at Mumias Sugar Company, all the recordings that are on his mobile phone and any other person mentioned in connection with his killing,” Mudavadi said as quoted by Daily Nation.

Lubya was shot and killed by armed gunmen at his home in Lukusi village, Matungu sub-county, on June 4th, 2017.
