Kilifi Jubilee campaigners have asked President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto to stop relying on what they termed as political brokers and instead deal directly with the residents.According to chief campaigner Peter Ponda, the team that led previous campaigns failed UhuRuto during the August 8 polls as well as the Malindi by-election in March 2016 and thus should be avoided in the repeat presidential election. The Independent Electoral and boundaries Commission (IEBC) has slated October 17 as the date for the re-run.He said during the just-concluded national elections, Jubilee never won a single seat after the Raila Odinga-led ODM Party scooped almost all seats in the county.“Those people who pretend to be political kingpins chest-thump to Uhuru. We want them out. We cannot be successful if they’ll still take charge. I won’t mention names, but these are leaders who go round hotels planning without involving those at the grassroots,” said Ponda as quoted by the Star.
