Suna East MP and ODM director of elections Junet Mohamed was on Friday arrested and charged at a Homa Bay court with hate speech.
Mohamed appeared before principal magistrate Susan Ndegwa on counts of inciting the masses for political turmoil.
He was accused of saying:
According to court papers, Junet said the words on July 2, 2017 at Homa Bay's Tourist Hotel.
According to the court, the said words were uttered to incite feelings of discrimination, contempt and hatred against the people of Nyeri due to their ethnicity.
Junet however denied the charges and was released on a Sh500,000 bond or Sh100,000 bail.
The case will next be heard on October 24.
