Kiambu Governor William Kabogo has continued to receive heavy criticism from various Jubilee leaders and supporters following the utterances he made recently.

The Kiambu County chief was quoted saying that it is not a must that Mt Kenya region voters vote for DP William Ruto for President in 2022 without re-negotiating the 'agreement' that saw Ruto support President Uhuru in 2013 and again in forthcoming 2017 elections.

Though Kabogo may be accused of unbridled tongue today, he may be factually 'foretelling' a reality that will dawn on Ruto six years from now, and this is why:

1. Kenya political memoranda rarely work. This is a known fact in Kenyan politics and no politician who is in such agreements/memoranda should count on them to work before that time to implement them comes. Perhaps Kabogo is trying to advise Ruto to wake up from the 'deep slumber' he may be in by thinking he will get unrivaled support from Mt Kenya in 2022.

2. Mt Kenya region is known to vote for 'their own'. Since Kenya became a multiparty democracy in 1992, Mt Kenya voters have never supported a candidate outside the region for President. Kabogo may just be reminding Ruto this in advance lest he forgets.

3. Kabogo may be speaking on his 'master (s)' behalf. In Kenyan politics, they say that if you see a dog barking, look after its owner. Kabogo may have been asked by his 'master (s)' to test the political waters on their behalf to 'see' the reaction.

4. Kabogo might be going for the Presidency in 2022. Assuming that Kabogo will win the Kiambu governorship in 2017, he will be serving his last term as the constitution bars him from contesting for a third term. He could, therefore, be telling Ruto that he (Kabogo) will be up for consideration by Mt Kenya voters in 2022. So, whatever reason could have led Kabogo to utter what he said, he should not be entirely ignored as he could be telling of things to come.
